Haus Hirt hotel is a small rural hideaway in Bad Gastein, Austria in the heart of the Austrian Alps, with a view of the Gastein valley.

History

The main house was designed by Heinrich Hirt in 1924 as private spa. In 1930 the house became a guesthouse and the refuge for famous artists and writers such as Thomas Mann and Stefan Zweig. After that, in 1967 Kurt and Erika Raschhofer bought the property and turned it into a modern sport and spa hotel. Today Evelyn Ikrath, their oldest daughter and her husband Ike Ikrath manage the Haus Hirt.

The hotel is a mix of traditional and modern styles with original furniture and new elements made by international artists. In fact, it has a warm atmosphere for guests to relax.

Haus Hirt offers 31 rooms and suites with light colours, natural materials, balcony and panoramic view of the valley. The suites have separate living area and some have two different levels. Moreover, the hotel has 5 Alpine chalets (Madero, Rosa, Camillo, Ed and Tessa) perfect for families or groups. They have natural materials and design furniture. For instance, they have bedroom and living space, kitchen and fireplace.

What to do 

Guests can read a book or magazine in the library, watch a movie, or in winter, relax in the salon in front of the fireplace. They can also use the Alpine Spa with indoor pool, sauna, steam room and a sun terrace.  Moreover, they can enjoy Thalasso and Ayurveda massages, body treatments, and daily Yoga and Pilates classes.

The Haus Hirt lounge bar and restaurant proposes creative Austrian cuisine with local and organic ingredients and fine wines from famous vineyards.

The hotel offers different winter and summer activities like snowboarding, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, golf and tennis. Moreover, guests can book cooking courses. The hotel also offers a program and different activities for children.
