Authentic China: Jing’s Residence

Jing’s Residence is a hotel in a mansion built 260 years ago in the ancient city Pingyao in the Shanxi province in China. The residence belonged to a wealthy Qing dynasty silk merchant. Pingyao is an important tourist attractions with some of the best-preserved traditional architecture in China and since 1997 it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In recent years it became a unique boutique hotel. For instance, renowned architects renovated Jing’s Residence, maintaining the original allure.

The hotel has four courtyards in authentic northern China style and grey-brick pavilions. Visitors can find tables and chairs outside of each pavilion where to relax. Moreover, the inner and outdoor spaces have bamboo, water element and stones walkways.

The 16 rooms and suites  have wooden asian furniture, ancient carved windows, bamboo floors and rice paper ceilings. Moreover, all with a unique character, have traditional Chinese handcrafts elements and silk decors. The Master Suite, located on the second level, has a hand made bath, a sitting area and a view of Pingyao’s rooftops.

The restaurant has an extensive menu of international and unique provincial cuisine. After dinner guests can have a drink at the bar lounge.

Jing’s Residence has cosy library and exclusive meeting space for private and business events with technological facilities. In addition, there is a Spa offering therapeutic and rejuvenating treatments and a luxury suite for special therapy.

Guests can have a walk in Pingyao, enjoying craft shops, antiques and restaurants. In addition, the Jing’s Residence team organises different activities and workshops like paper cutting, cooking classes and private tours.
