Unexpected guests: Giraffe Manor hotel

A picturesque red brick building from 1930s, Giraffe Manor is in a private African forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi, Kenya. This boutique hotel has lush green gardens, sunny terraces and delightful courtyards.

Designed by elegant interiors, it offers 12 rooms (10 Double and 2 Suites) decorated with art deco elements and four-poster beds. Moreover, the Suites, perfect for families, open directly onto a courtyard. Above all, guests will enjoy full board during their stay, including all meals and most drinks.

In addition, Giraffe Manor is the residence of a group of Rothschild giraffes. These beautiful creatures visit the house during the morning or evening, poking their long necks into the windows hoping to be fed, before retreating to their forest. Firstly, guests can walk around for a visit at the AFEW Giraffe Centre near the hotel, to learn more about those incredible animals. Secondly, it is possible to organise local excursions around the Langata area, including a visit to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust . Here visitors can meet, feed and even adopt baby elephants. Thirdly, the hotel can set tailor-made safaris with the East Africa the Safari Collection tour operator.

The hotel also offers a range of massage and body treatments using organic premium brands. Guests enjoy the boutiques nearby with locally made jewellery and crafts or visit the Matbronze Art Gallery.
